March 29, 2014 - Went to the shelter, saw many things and was amazed of how friendly the staff were and open Ameilia was with me during the tour of the facility.A moment where I should have got a shot off was when I saw this poor creature a victim of a dog fight with fresh scars all over her face, legs and chest. I felt so sorry for her that I couldn't bring myself to photograph her. So I walked a way. Later a thought came to me to try and capture that poor animal only to bring light to the cruelty of man. We search all of the pens but did not see her. We later discovered that the poor thing was put down. I had mixed feelings about not photographing this dog but now I am okay with not capturing the mangled appearance of this once valued animal.

Went back to the shelter April 3 and saw this beautiful animal surrendered by her owners, a family of four; mother, father and two young boys. Lily was so frighten when they came for her. She tossed her head back and forth and hid between the legs of her now former family. Upon seeing her in the cage, Lily was visibly shaken and very, very quiet, she barely barked. During her examination, shots and placing back into a pen, Lily was still shaking but didn't bark even as a lot of dogs around us were barking loudly. I stayed with Lily giving her strokes and talking soothingly to make her feel a little more calm. Finally I noticed she stopped shaking. Now Lily is up for adoption at the ACCT Philly, 111 East Hunting Park Avenue, Philadelphia PA 19160 - Phone (267) 385-3800.

As of last night, April 4, Lily is still waiting for a loving home.

Lily-A Beagle & Chihuahua MixUpdate: April 5 Lily is looking for a new home. Upon seeing lily today she's a lot more active, she's barking and seeing me she licked my hand vigorously, she wagged her tail and followed me every where I went with her eyes. I saw a biscuit in her cage I told her to eat it and she did, when the other dogs barked or went by her cage she barked but when I told her calm down or eat her biscuit she complied. I think I'm falling for Lily.
