Serenity
My photographic expressions of serenity stem from my desire to exhibit vivid interpretations of peace and tranquility. Some of my most fondest childhood memories were those spent with my father taking long walks in rural New York. We would wander through meadows, along railroad tracks and threw hidden pathways. Together, we took in all of the sights, smells and sounds that surrounded us. The serenity of these moments allowed me to delve deep into my imagination to find places of relaxation and balance. My ambition is to reawaken these feelings from my childhood in the scenes I photograph today.
The theme of the photographs in my collection is Serenity. The collection depicts states of stillness, peacefulness and the feeling of being untroubled. The chaos of New York City's streets disappears when looking above and beholding the stillness of the sunlight casting down upon tall buildings with white clouds nestled between them amongst the blue sky. Representations of an evening stroll in Fairmount Park admiring a statue, The Preacher, in the tranquil surroundings of trees and the Schuylkill River. Exploiting the peacefulness of the railroad tracks and the surrounding landscape before the arrival of a barreling train. Serenity can be found all around us, before, during and after chaos, just waiting to be found.
